Dr. Harikumar S, Associate Professor, School of Letters M G University has been in the field of teaching for the last 23 years. He has produced five PhDs and thirty two MPhils. Five research scholars are now pursuing their research under his supervision and guidance. His research areas include Modern Literature, Culture Studies and Linguistics. His UGC-sponsored Major Research Project, a web portal of Malayalam’s ever loved and renowned poet Changampuzha Krishna Pilla bears the stamp of his passion for preserving cultural and literary artefacts.
He has authored two books on contemporary Malayalam fiction and published more than ten research articles on various topics in UGC care listed and peer reviewed academic journals.
As a faculty member of School of Letters, Dr. Harikumar has made significant contributions to the academic activities in tune with the traditions set by stalwarts like Prof. Sankara Pillai, R Narendra Prasad, D Vinayachandran and others by combining elements of academics and creativity. The syllabuses he has set, the projects he has supervised and the meaningful interventions he has made during academic events bear testimony to this. He has also been an active participant in the extra-curricular activities like Vyazhavattom, play productions and outreach programmes of the School.
He has been serving as the member of Board of Studies of various universities and autonomous colleges. He also serves as the Board of Adjudicators Committee of Kannur, Calicut, SSUS Kalady and Kerala universities and the member of the PhD, MPhil and PG exam board of various universities.
He delivers lectures in the refresher courses of UGC HRDCs in Kerala. He coordinated four Faculty Development Programmes organized by College Development Council of M G University.
He has held many responsible positions in different administrative bodies including Dean of Students Services of M G University. Being the Dean of Students Services, he acted as the Anti Ragging Nodal Officer and the Cultural Co-ordinator of the University.
