MA, M.Phil, PhD     

His areas of specialisation are Film and New Media Studies. He has published 27 books (novels, short stories, critical works on film and media studies) and more than 100 research articles in reputed journals. His works can be accessed from his website-www.josekmanuel.in Twelve PhD and sixty two MPhil scholars have been awarded Degree under his research guidance so far. He has presented papers at more than 200 National and International seminars.

He has directed a documentary ‘Nanavu’ on Scientific Farming Techniques. He has also written screenplays for short film and cinema. He has conducted a Jaivam Project sponsored by IUCOFSA as Principal Investigator and a UGC sponsored Major Research Project. He was also a Post-doctoral Fellow of Mahatma Gandhi University.

He was the Board of Studies Member at Kerala University, Kannur University, Mahatma Gandhi University, Central University of Kerala, Gandhigram Rural Deemed University, Karpagam Deemed University as well as Manonmaniam Sundaranar University. He has been the Member of the Staff Selection Board of various universities of the state.His books on cinema are prescribed texts in the UG, P.G and Research syllabi of different Universities. He is also a Resource person at the Refresher courses conducted by the HRDC of various universities.
