Memorial Programmes

Memorial Programmes

School of Letters regularly organizes academic programmes in memory of its former Directors and other faculty who have left the world leaving an indelible mark on the society and in the field of academics. It may be specifically noted that these programmes are not mere memorial events to recollect the individuals, instead rigorous academic events with scholarly lectures by eminent personalities in their respective fields. The G. Sankara Pillai Memorial Programme, conducted every year on 1st January is also celebrated as the Foundation Day of the School.  It has also been marked by a regular presentation of plays mostly made by the students and staff of School of Letters, while the Narendra Prasad memorial function has been marked by lectures delivered by eminent personalities. While the theatre enthusiasts of Kottayam eagerly await the play productions, many of our play productions have left a deep impact on the theatre scene in Kerala. The memorial programme in honour of Prof. V. C. Harris, termed as “Harris Vaijnanika Sadass” which means “Harris Knowledge Summit” is always a National or International Seminar on the areas in which Prof. V. C. Harris made intellectual contributions.  P. Balachandran memorial lecture series is another hallmark of the School.
